Vehicle wrap basic and their longevity
A wrap is a large graphic or assembly of vinyl decals, applied directly onto a vehicle. When properly applied and maintained, vehicle wraps can be safely removed without damaging the original paint—making them a popular option for leased or owned vehicles.
A full wrap includes all body panels except the roof, although this is an additional option to explore. A unique perforated film covers windows that showcases the graphic outside of the vehicle, while giving the driver and passengers clear visibility from the inside. Partial wraps take up less real estate, making them an excellent alternative for those on a tighter budget or who only want to accent a portion of their vehicle.
Because vehicle wraps are exposed to the elements—and potential damage—you want an experienced business to perform the installation process. When properly applied and maintained, wraps may last up to five years!
Why get a vehicle wrap?
Individuals and businesses alike may feel compelled to invest in a vehicle wrap with vinyl film, graphics, or decals for the following reasons:
- Appearance – Temporarily enhance or change the way a vehicle looks without damage or a long-term commitment.
- Protection – The film used for wraps shields the paint finish from damage and fading, helping the vehicle to maintain its resale value.
- Branding – Companies wrap their fleet vehicles to serve as noticeable, 24/7 mobile advertisement and marketing promotion.
- Visibility – Generate tens of thousands of impressions per day.
- Increased ROI – “Out of home” advertising can reach up to 1,000 views per mile.
- Cost Effective – This advertising outperforms TV, radio, and print by almost 400% for online activations per ad dollar!
Fleet wraps may increase brand awareness up to 15 times more than other advertising platforms, making branded commercial vehicle fleets a desired option for businesses.
How is a vehicle wrap installed?
Eagle Print Dynamics ensures the best possible results for wrap installation by starting with accurate measurements of each fleet vehicle before the graphics are designed. Once they are tested for fit, produced, and laminated, we work with a certified installer and oversee every step of the application process.
First, we thoroughly clean and detail the vehicle to eliminate dirt, dust, oil, wax, and other impurities from the painted surface so the vinyl will adhere properly. Any combination of rubbing alcohol, a clay bar, or compressed air may be used for this purpose.
Next, bumpers, headlights, and taillights are removed to provide full access to the body panels. Alternatively, the wrap can be applied first, then cut around these areas with a specially designed blade.
Finally, the vinyl wrap is heated for pliability and applied to the vehicle, piece by piece and layer by layer (for more complex graphics). Once completed, a soft felt squeegee is run over all wrap sections to push out air bubbles.
How much does a full vehicle wrap cost?
Depending on the wrap (standard, single-color glossy or matte car wraps vs complex metallic wraps) the price will vary. At Eagle Print Dynamics, we work with our customers to discover the best vehicle wrap solution for them, with budget in mind. A standard scale for some of the options include:
- Vehicle Magnet: $
- Decal: $$
- Full wrap: $$$
